Shirley Sherman Obituary

Shirley Myrtle Sherman, 86 of Danville, passed away peacefully at The Waters of Covington on Sunday, July 3, 2022. Visitation will be on Friday, July 8th from 12:30-1:30pm with services immediately following at Kruger Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville with Pastor Raymie Gordon officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery in Georgetown.

Shirley was born on October 11, 1935 in Monticello, IL. After losing her father at a young age, she was raised by her mother and grew up in the Lafayette area. She enjoyed learning and had nearly every certificate you could imagine from DACC, University of Minnesota, and several other colleges. Shirley worked at GE, at Traveler, and then later started ESCO Credit Union, which was later bought by Landmark and allowed her to retire. She enjoyed fishing in her free time.

Shirley married Don Sherman and he passed away in 2011. She leaves behind her two boys: Jim Sumner and David Sumner (Jenny Waters); three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Liz and Jane. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Don.
