Sgt Steven Michael Gnaden, 37, of Danville, IL left this life at 6:42 am on September 6, 2025. He was born March 3,1988 to Alvin Earl Sapp and Kim Curry and was later adopted by George and Bonnie Gnaden III.
Steven served in the Illinois Army National Guard for almost 20 years including a deployment to Afghanistan. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan. He was a kid at heart and loved to horseplay play with his siblings, children, bonus children, family and friends.
He is survived by his parents George and Bonnie Gnaden III; ex wife Lori Gnaden and their 4 children Trenton Gnaden, Chloey Gnaden, Grayson Gnaden, Brantlee Gnaden; fiancé Ashley Pierce and bonus children Brian Lynch, Dallas Lynch, Rickie Clark; siblings Peggy Coon, Angie Zufall, David(Jen) Gnaden, Josh(Colleen) Gnaden, Jason Johnson, Alvin Sapp Jr, Tiffany Sapp, Cody Sapp, Zach Sapp, Brianna Walters, Kayla(Matt) Moreman-Staley; biological mother Kim; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his biological father Alvin Sapp, a son Kolton Gnaden and many loved ones.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to be made to Schlarman Academy in the name of Grayson and Brantlee Gnaden to assist in his children's education.
Visitation will be on Thursday, September 18th from 4-7pm at Kruger Funeral Home & Crematory. Services are scheduled for 9:30am on Friday, September 19, 2025 at Kruger Funeral Home & Crematory, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville, IL with Steve Pearson officiating. The IL National Guard, Georgetown Legion 603, and The Patriot Guard will all be taking part in Steven's services.
