Tammy Elizabeth Matthews, 64 of Danville and formerly of Denver, Colorado, passed away on Monday, November 18th, 2024 at OSF Sacred Heart in Danville. She was one day shy of celebrating her 65th birthday with her family and friends.
Tammy was born in Kirkland, MO on November 19, 1959 to Tom and Carolyn (Dunn) Smith. She attended school in both Missouri and Colorado, where she spent her childhood years. Tammy married Bobby Ray Carson in the early 70’s and the two had two daughters together- Bobbi and Deanna. They later divorced, and Tammy met, fell in love with, and married Harvey “Lee” Matthews in 1983. The two created a wonderful life together, added another daughter, Mallory in 1986, and enjoyed their life together before his passing in 2011.
Tammy enjoyed working with people and made a career of doing so. She worked in customer service and as a bartender throughout her life at The Black Bear, County Market, and Things Remembered to name a few. Tammy loved horses, her favorite being the family horse Trigger, and enjoyed traveling all over the US with her children. In her younger years she enjoyed cooking, and has always had a passion for Westerns, listening to the oldies, anything Elvis, and Hummingbirds. Above all else, Tammy loved her family.
Tammy leaves behind two daughters: Mallory Matthews and DeAnna Martinez; five grandchildren: Daltin Matthews, Christopher Osman, Stormy Martinez, Mireya Martinez, and Robert Gonzalez; eight great-grandchildren: Kaden, Braxton, Gabriel, Nevaeh, Elijah, Heavenly, Daniel, and Kehlani; her sister Kimberly Smith; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harvey ‘Lee”, and a daughter Bobbi.
Per her wishes, Tammy will be cremated and private services for the family have already been arranged. Messages and memories may be left on our website at www.KrugerCoanPape.com, or on the Kruger Funeral Home Facebook page.
