It is with great sadness and sorrow that we mourn the passing of Terry Wayne Lake on January 1, 2025. Terry was born May 20, 1963 to Clinton Raymond and Juanita Louise (Morlan) Lake in Williamsport, IN.
Terry graduated from Seeger High School in 1981 and worked for Paula’s Pizza and Video Shoppe in his hometown. He loved that pizza place and made a huge impact there in the mid 80s. Everything Terry did, he did with his whole heart and he did it with pride and love. He was an over the road truck driver throughout most of his career, which allowed him to explore every mainland state between 1986-2000. He was most proud of working for Lord & Taylor. He retired in Danville, IL where he lived on Oak St until his death.
Terry was a pillar of his community and the patriarch of his family. He was the keeper of history and a friend to all. He was passionate, vibrant, funny, charismatic, and caring. Mere words could never do him justice. He cared so much for so many people and was a selfless giver to all. Terry was heavily involved in local government, Fischer theater, LGBTQ+ community, Garden Share and he volunteered everywhere he could to help and make a difference. He was dearly loved by everyone, and he gave so much to all while never asking for anything in return.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Christy Lynn Lake Alesi. He is survived by his loving life partner of 30 years, Greg M. Thatcher; brothers Raymond (Sue) Lake, Audey (Donna) Lake, Curtis Lake; and sister Debbie Lake (Ricky) Hollowell. He is also survived by countless nieces and nephews and cousins, all of whom he loved dearly. He made the world a brighter place with his presence and his memories will be treasured by all who knew him. His absence will be felt by all of those whose lives he touched.
Services will be held at Kruger Funeral Home in Danville, IL on Jan 9, 2025 at 1:00 pm. Visitation will start at noon. Terry had a tremendous love for flowers, so we would love to send him off surrounded by vibrant colored flowers, family and friends.
