Tuck Miller Obituary

Tuck Miller, 67,  of Danville, passed away at  9:36 am on March 10, 2021 at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville, Illinois.

Tuck was born in Danville Illinois on July 5, 1953. He was the son of Harvey & Shirley (Rohrer) Miller.

Tuck graduated from Danville high school in 1971. Shortly after graduation he joined the United States Navy. Tuck was inducted into the Navy on the infield Of Wrigley field prior to a ball game. In boot camp Tuck was in the Cub Company. He proudly served during the years of the Viet Nam conflict. Tuck was first stationed in San Diego California serving on the Henry B Wilson for 2 years. He was later stationed in Norfolk Virginia where he served on the USS John F Kennedy Aircraft carrier. He was a Barber by day and disc jockey at night. After serving honorably he returned to Danville. He worked a couple years with the Danville Police department. He then joined the Danville Fire department where he served 6 years.

Tuck returned to San Diego in 1982. On July 3, 1987 Tuck married Evelyn Berdella Bandle in San Diego. He worked shipyard security for a short while. He then began working for the San Diego Transit driving a trolley for 25 years.

After retirement he returned to his home town of Danville. He became active in TOPS. He was a stadium announcer for the Danville Dans. He became active with Ambucs. He was a Ham Radio operator NF9T 

He was well known for playing Santa Claus. He was the downtown Danville Santa as well as Santa in the annual Christmas parade. He was a die hard Cubs fan. He also enjoyed bowling. He was inducted into the Bowlers Hall Of Fame. He also gave a weekly bowling report in The Commercial News and on Facebook so the Danville bowlers can be recognized for their achievement.

Tuck was well known for his humor and quick wit. He always had a joke or two to tell you whether you heard it before or not. His ultimate goal was to see you smile.

Tuck was afflicted with Parkinson's. It took a toll on his livelihood. It may have slowed him down some but he was determined not to let it beat him.

Tuck was an inspiration to many. He never met a stranger.

Tuck is survived by his Mother, wife Evelyn, his daughters Vivian Miller of Stewart, Florida and Evanna (Phil) Morgan of Leemore, California. He has 4 Grandchildren, and 1 Great Granddaughter, many nieces and nephews.

Also surviving is a  brother Greg(Billie), Robin, & Mark Foote. A sister Channa Cales of Georgetown.

He was proceeded in death by his Father, 1 brother and a sister.

A celebration of Tuck's life will be at Kruger-Coan-Pape Funeral Home on Wednesday March 17, 2021. Visitation 3:00-6:00. Service to follow with Pastor Kenneth Young officiating.

Current CDC and IDPH guidelines will be strictly enforced regarding social distancing, masks, and allowable numbers.
