Robert "Bob" Binkley Obituary

   Robert “Bob” Warren Binkley, 92 of Georgetown, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2019 at 12:15am at Pleasant Meadow’s Senior Living Center in Chrisman. Per his wishes, Bob was cremated and private family services will be held at a later date.

  Bob was born on June 12, 1928 in Ridge Farm, Illinois to Horace and Maude (Baldwin) Binkley. He attended Georgetown schools, graduating from Georgetown High School in 1946 before enlisting in the US Air Force. Bob served from 1946-1948 as a crew chief on P51’s , serving part of that time in Japan. He studied at Eureka College to be a coach.    When he returned from the service Bob worked for Midway Airport in Chicago, and later taking a position at TeePak, where he worked as a shipping/receiving clerk for 25 years before retiring in the eighties.  In his spare time Bob could be found watching his beloved Cubs, of which he was a die-hard fan, relishing in their recent World Series Win. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, working outside in the fresh air, and was a member of the Covington Square Dance Club for many years.

   Bob married Violet Faye Cox in 1951, and she passed away on September 4, 1974, after 23 years of marriage. He later married Barbara Hoskins on March 26, 1976, and she passed away on September 16, 2013. Surviving are his three daughters: Christy (Larry) Stratton, Marla Simmonds, and Susan (Philip) Couts; four step-daughters: Sue Ann (Patrick) Bowman, Myra (James) Goulding, Rita Henschen, and Melissa Hoskins; sister Margaret Binkley; and sister-in-law Shirley Binkley. Bob also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Johnathan (Vivian) Stratton, Holly (Lazaro) Stratton Cantu, Mark (Jessica) Stratton, Allison (Neil) Rollins, Gregory Micah Hanner, Bethany Hanner, and Robert Couts, eleven great-grandchildren, and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both of his wives, his parents, a brother Gerald, a son in law Charles Simmonds, and a stepson John Kent Hoskins.
