Fred Dokey, 73 of Danville, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2024 at OSF Sacred Heart Hospital in Danville. Per his wishes he has chosen to be cremated, and a Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, May 4th at 11am at Union Corner Church, 14158 Perrysville Rd. in Danville. A memorial visitation will be immediately prior from 10-11am.
Fred was born to James and Vivian (Moore) Dokey on August 6, 1950 in Danville; the youngest of five children. Fred went to Danville schools, graduating in 1968 from Danville High School. He was a machinist who worked for Hyster for thirty years before retiring in 2002. Fred enjoyed golfing, was a sports enthusiast who loved the Illini, the Cubs and the Bears, and was an animal lover. He was never without a cat or a dachshund under his feet!
Fred married Sue Brady on July 6, 1993 and the two have loved living life together. He is survived by his loving wife Sue; his sisters-in-law: Pat Dokey and Lauri Weller; his brothers-in-law: David Brady and Karl Kruger; a grandson: Mitchell Bowers; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his many friends and church family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his four siblings: Jim, Jean, Carol, and Richard, and a sister-in-law: Mary Kruger.
