Becky Bays Obituary

Becky Bays, 69 of Danville, left us for a better place on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at her home. Visitation will be from 5-7pm on Tuesday, July 5th at Kruger Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville. Graveside services will be at 9am on Wednesday, July 6th at Atherton Cemetery on Perrysville Road.

Becky was born on July 18, 1952 to George W. Gnaden II. She attended Danville area schools, later earning her GED and going on to attend Danville Beauty School and DACC. She worked at Sally’s Beauty Supply, Hair Performers, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and at Cannon Cochran throughout the years. She was very active with the local Girl Scouts when her daughter Sherri was a child, and was a member of the Gao Grotto Campers where she was a past Mighty Chosen One and the Junior Women’s Club. Becky liked camping and loved sitting on the beach in Florida, reading her romance novels. Above all else she loved her family.

Becky married James Bays on November 22, 1968 and the two have shared nearly fifty-four years together. She leaves behind her husband; a son James (Melanie) Bays; five grandchildren: Kendall Irby, Jakob Irby, Rachel Irby, Taylor Bays, and Jason Bays; and three great-grandchildren: Ava Songer, Valerie Irby, and a special baby boy, Christopher Irby on the way. Her five sisters: Barbara Tolbert, Penny Gnaden, Mandy Gnaden, Debbie Gnaden, and Lisa Sweeney and three brothers: Bill Gnaden, Bob Gnaden, and Chris Gnaden will greatly miss her as well. She was preceded in death by her father, her grandparents: Hazel and Chuck Schiermeyer, George and Dessie Gnaden, Eunice Davis, and Homer Crosby; two brothers: John and Mark Gnaden; a sister Dessie Gnaden; and a daughter Sherri Bays.
