Betty Jean Anglum, passed peacefully at 6:20am on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at Hawthorne Inn Skilled Nursing Unit in Danville. Visitation will be on Saturday, April 13th from 10am-Noon at Kruger Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville. Services will follow at Noon with Pastor Rob Caudill officiating. Burial will take place at Danville National Cemetery on Monday, April 15th at 10am.
Betty was born April 19, 1927 in Danville; the daughter of Fred and Hazel Bowen. She joins her mother, father, sisters: Elaine and Eleanor, and her brothers: Charles ‘Bud” and Bobby in Heaven.
She is survived by her husband Werner “Slim” Anglum of more that seventy-three years; two children: Carol (George) Vernia and Greg (Sandy) Anglum; her grandchildren: Jason, Sara (Aaron) Dupree, Stephanie (Jeramy) Dobkins, Matthew (Abby) Anglum, Andrew (Beth) Anglum, and Amy Anglum; and her great-granddaughters: Brianna, Catherine, Evelyn, Gracelynn, Hannah, Caitlin, Caroline, and Hazel.
Betty grew up on a farm milking cows and driving a tractor. She was an avid bowler and travelled all over the country on numerous vacations. Betty was an accomplished crossword puzzle enthusiast. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and visited with them whenever she was able. She was a passionate St. Louis Cardinals fan, and a strong supporter of all the University of Illinoi athletics. She worked and retired from Fred W. Amend (Chuckles) candy factory after over thirty years.
