Charles McClain Obituary

   Charles Alvin McClain, 87, of Tilton, passed away on Friday, August 2, 2019 at OSF Sacred Heart in Danville.  Visitation will be from 4-7pm on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at Kruger-Coan-Pape Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville.  Service will be at 10:30am on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at Kruger-Coan-Pape Funeral Home, with Pastor Kevin Ziegler officiating, honor guard by American Legion Post 210.  Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

   Charles was born in Danville on June 22, 1932 to Charles and Gladys (Gardiner) McClain.  He graduated from Danville High School in 1951, and was a U.S. Navy Veteran.  Charles worked for Allied Chemical for 33 years until his retirement.  Charles was a long time member of Southside Church of Christ, where he was active in the choir.  Charles was an avid golfer, and enjoyed bowling.  He was a member of the Moose Lodge for many years, and was a big fan of the Chicago Cubs.  He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

   Charles married Ethel Geneva Harrison in 1955, and just celebrated 64 years of marriage.  Survivors include his wife Ethel; children:  Kathy (John) Liffick, Lori Carlson (Chuck Jordan), Charles “Dewey” (Lisa) McClain, Kenneth “Wayne” McClain, Orville McClain; son-in-law David May; grandchildren:  Katie May, Jennifer Clark, Jonathan May, Miranda Rendon, Jesse Herron, Erin Barnes, Jordan Harvey, Nicholas Carlson, Jean Mecke, Jac Carlson, Alicia McClain, Ryan McClain, Nakita McClain, Raymond McClain, Rebecca Maxwell, Sara McClain, Charles McClain; Sisters: Nora Hible, Virgie Ross, Cora Bales, and Betty Rosdail; and 21 Great-Grandchildren.

   Charles was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Judy May; sisters: Theresa Hansbrough, Minnie Downing, Oma Sempsrott; brother Oscar McClain.
