Clara Heffern Obituary

Clara ‘Ruth” Heffern, 95 of Danville and formerly of Bismarck, left this life peacefully on Monday, January 10, 2022. Services will be at 1pm on Thursday, January 13th at Kruger Coan Pape Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street with Pastor Bill Wright officiating. Following services she will be laid to rest beside her husband Harold in Gundy cemetery.

Ruth was born to Leo and Edna (Meeker) Cox on June 19, 1926 and she was raised and attended school in Bismarck. After graduating from high school, she worked in a local shoe factory. After meeting Harold Heffern, the two were soon married in Covington on September 15, 1946 and began raising their family. Besides raising her children, Ruth could often be found outside tending to her flowers, chasing her dogs around, reading, and baking the best pies, cakes, and dinners around.

Ruth and Harold shared just shy of sixty-three years together before his passing in August of 2009. She leaves behind her two children: Brenda (Jorge) Montelongo and Harold Heffern; her grandchildren: Alisha (Derek) Rhoden, Katie (Justin) Bonomo, David Hazelbaker, Jorge Montelongo Jr., Tisha Helmuth, and Mark Heffern; and her six great-grandchildren: Gage, Kloey, Wyatt, Harper, Lennon, Abel, and Julianna. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister Juanita, a brother Jesse Leroy, and her daughter-in-law Viki Heffern.
