Eddie was born on December 12, 1942 in Danville to Albert and Ruth (Marrow) Allen. He attended Elmwood Grade School and DHS, graduating in 1961. He went on to enlist in the US Army where he was made a twenty-one year career in maintenance. After returning home, Eddie worked as a pilot car driver, and at Jay’s Muffler, Auto Zone, Bumper Works, and Hyster. In his early years Eddie enjoyed Nascar and dirt track racing- both racing himself and watching it. And he could often be found restoring antique cars-most recently his 1968 Terrino.
On March 24, 1962, Eddie married Jaqueline Cancil and the two have shared their lives together ever since. He leaves behind his wife Jackie of fifty-nine years; his son Jimmy Allen; three grandchildren: Austin and Nolan Allen and Rancey Rouse; a sister Judy Walls; four nieces and nephews: James Garretson, Christina Moody, Shawn Garretson, and Tralisa Ervin, several great nieces and nephews and many friends. Eddie was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Jack.
