Edith Boyd Obituary

Edith D. Boyd, 93, of Stafford, Virginia and formerly of Danville, went home to be with The Lord on Tuesday, August 30, 2022.  A visitation will be Friday, September 23rd at 10:30 A.M. followed by an 11 A.M. service at Kruger Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville. Burial will follow at Danville National Cemetery at 12 P.M..

   Edith was born September 17, 1928 in Robinson, Illinois to Pearl and Phoebe White. She attended school in Robinson and later classes at DACC. Edith worked for Danville School District 118, in which she retired after twenty-eight years as a teaching assistant. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church (formerly Lincoln United Methodist), as well as a member of the Bradford Chapter of DAR, Iris Chapter 207, and The Illiana Genealogical Society. She was also an active part of the annual fundraiser for the local Alzheimer’s Association.  Edith enjoyed traveling and made it to almost every state, including Alaska and Hawaii, the Virgin Islands, and several places in Europe.

   Edith married Jack F. Clay on February 4, 1951 and he preceded her in death in May of 1962, after only 11 short years, together. She later married Walter C. Boyd on December 25, 1965 in Bismarck, Illinois.  The two shared over forty-three years together until his passing in May of 2008. Edith leaves behind her two daughters; Barbara (Dennis) Clay-Tucker and Sharon (David) Clay-Gran, seven grandchildren; Heather (Greg) Dowell, Chris (Charise) Tucker, Shawna (Claudio) Pavia, Ryan (Lauren) Gran, Adam Gran, Mark Gran, Kyle (Didi) Gran; and several great-grandchildren; as well as a sister-in-law, Dorothy Pearson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, a brother John White, and two sisters, Helen Knoblett and Elizabeth Liston.
