John Koss, 98, of Danville passed away Wednesday January 27, 2021. Per his wishes, he will be cremated with a graveside committal at Resurrection Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post 210. Rev. Timothy Sauppé will officiate.
John was born January 23, 1923 in Westville to John and Rose Mary (Puskac) Koss. John served in the US Army 20th Air Force unit during WWII. John worked as an electrician and in maintenance at Illinois Plumbing and Heating, HK Porter Co., Allith Corp., Fameco Corp., and TMF Center, retiring in 1989. In his spare time, John enjoyed working on genealogy.
John married Norma Collins in 1947, and divorced in 1976, she survives. John then married Marzell Ricketts Patterson in 1988, she preceded him in death in 2003. Those who will miss him include his daughter Sandra Kay (Thomas) Taylor; step-daughters: Linda Miller and Kaye (Edward) Pundt; step-son: Allyn (Deborah) Patterson; granddaughter: Molly (Josten) Powell; step-grandchildren: Kelly O’Toole, William Pundt Jr., Joshua Pundt, Susie Johnson, Angela Lopez, Gerald (Jennifer) Patterson, and Jamie Patterson; 3 great- grandchildren, and 14 step great-grandchildren; 2 special nieces Debbie Koss-Warner and Andrea Thigpen; and special cousin Paul Wolfe.
John was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers: August Koss, Anthony Koss, and Joseph Koss; sister-in-law Florence Koss
