Margaret A. Thompson, 79 of Danville, left us peacefully on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Heritage Health in Hoopeston. Per her wishes, a Celebration of Life is planned for 5pm on Monday, March 4, 2024 at Crossroads Christian Church, 3613 N. Vermilion Street in Danville.
Margaret was born June 7, 1944 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Danville to Frank J. and Elizabeth “Jane” (Toth) Krasovich. She attended Westville High School, graduating in 1962. She graduated from The House of James and received her State of Illinois Cosmetology license. After college Margaret moved to Annapolis, MD and worked at North Severn Naval Base as a cosmetologist. After moving back to Danville, she worked as a Student Instructor at Danville Beauty School, and later at General Electric from 1964-1987. In her later years she was a bookkeeper for Barteck Security.
Margaret was a member of The International Association of Machinist and Aero-space Workers. She was also a member of Local Lodge 2076 where she was a member of the bargaining committee, and held the positions of shop steward and recording secretary. Margaret was a member of District Lodge 172 where she was also Financial Officer. She enjoyed traveling for the Machinist Union and spending time at the Grand Lodge trainings. Margaret was a proud Republican who was a precinct committee person for Newell Township. She loved Elvis, watching TV and expressing her own opinion of what was going on, and loved to read Stephen King and mystery novels.
Margaret married James Thompson on September 20, 1962 in Westville and the two shared forty-eight years together before he passed away in 2009. She leaves behind her two children: Teresa ‘Terri” Lee Lovell and Richard ‘Rick” Thompson; her grandchildren: Samantha “Sammie” Lee Lovell DePuy (Tim), Joshua Andrew Lovell, and Thomas Andrew Lovell III; two great grandchildren: Jaxon and Grayson DePuy; and her sister-in-law: Kathleen who was more like a sister. Her bonus grandchildren Caitlyn, Nicolas, Sarah, and Hannah; and her bonus great-grandchildren: Bradley, Christopher, and Liam will also miss her greatly. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Richard Krasovich, her husband James, and a nephew: Richard ‘Richie” Frank Krasovich.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Hospice workers, doctors, nurses, and aides who have cared for Margaret. They were the best team that anyone could ask for.
