Rock Strebing, 59 of Champaign and formerly of Danville, crossed over from this life to the next on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana with his family by his side. He fought a courageous ten year battle with cancer. Visitation will be from 4-7pm on Monday, January 21, 2019 at Kruger-Coan-Pape Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville. Following services, Rock will be cremated and will travel once more to his favorite places and be spread to the wind.
Rock was born in Danville on April 5, 1959 to Ronald W. and Sondra Sue (Laird) Strebing. He spent his childhood in Danville, graduating from Danville High School in 1977. Rock worked as a Supervisor at Quaker for twenty-one years and then did free lance work for the past ten years.
Rock leaves behind his three children: Corey Strebing, Kyle Strebing, and Abbie (Jarett) Roach; his granddaughter Maxine; two brothers: Rick W. (Fran) Strebing and Rodney (Dorene) Strebing; his nieces and nephews: Melissa, Ryan (Nichole), Evelyn, Devan, and Ashtan; his Aunt Sally and Aunt Peachy; many loved cousins, and his dogs: Rusty and Tubby; and too many special friends to count. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Rock was a jokester, loved to laugh, and had a contagious sense of humor. He was a people person who never met a stranger, and loved life. Rock loved to cook and dance, listen to music, photograph every aspect of his life, and read his Sunday paper. He enjoyed traveling, when his health allowed it, even moving to Texas for a period of time. He leaves behind more friends than one could count, and he will live on in their memories forever.
The family would like to thank all of the family, relatives, and friends for their monetary, emotional and spiritual support. We would be lost without you. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to assist in funeral expenses to PO Box 22, Danville, IL. 61834.
