Steven L Fitzsimmons, 72 of Danville, left us suddenly on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at OSF Sacred Heart in Danville. Visitation will be from 10-Noon on Wednesday, August 3rd at Kruger Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville. Services will follow at Noon with Pastor Dale DeNeal officiating.
Steve was born in Danville on July 20, 1950 and was adopted by Derald and Ellen (Irvin) Fitzsimmons. He attended Danville schools graduating from DHS in 1968. Steve worked for twenty-five years at R & S Printing, later moving on to Freightcar where he held several different positions over the next fourteen years. His favorite position was as a Locomotive Engineer. In his free time Steve enjoyed collecting and tinkering with clocks, mentoring his neighbors Jason and Jenny Thomas, playing classic AD&D Games, and watching Chicago Bears football.
Steve married Nora “Chris” Smith on February 2, 1975, and she survives. Also surviving are his sisters: Mary Fitzsimmons and Debbie Holman; his cousins Carol Knaebel, Beverly DeBarba, Rich (Maida) DeBarba, and Jeff (Julie) DeBarba; his close friend Tom Church; and many second cousins, nieces and nephews.
