William “Bill” Thompson, 78 of Hoopeston and formerly of Danville, left us peacefully on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 18th from 6-7pm at Kruger Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville. Services will follow at 7pm with Rev. Ford officiating.
Bill was born April 27, 1945 in Danville to Elzo and Lucille (Fleener) Thompson. He attended Danville area schools, and upon graduating became a Truck Driver. He drove trucks his entire life, hauling everything from livestock for Parks Livestock to merchandise for various companies. When he wasn’t working Bill could be found serving the Lord by assisting with the Food Bank at Abundant Life. Bill was a jigsaw puzzle enthusiast, liked to put together models, and liked to fish and enjoy the outdoors. The slots games on his phone also brought him a lot of joy and entertainment.
Bill leaves behind his niece and nephew who have cared for him: Rick (Amy) Thompson, many other nieces and nephews who are scattered all over the country, and his church family at Abundant Life. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his seven siblings: Ray, John, Tom, Bob, Elzo Jr., Sara, and Mary Jane.
Messages and memories may be left on our website at www.KrugerCoanPape.com, or on the Kruger Funeral Home Facebook page. Donations may be made in Bill’s name to Abundant Life Church, 400 N. Logan Ave, Danville, IL. 61832.
